One of my best girlfriends is getting married later this year, to a lovely lad....although they have published an online wedding gifts list, I never like these things, always seem so impersonal. So, I am wondering if I can apply my jewellery making skills to something more unique.....but still stumble over ideas for blokes. Ladies are so easy to design for...and apart from cufflinks (which her hubby to be isn't really into) and surfie style shark's tooth & coral....I wondered if anyone had any ideas for a his and hers type gift? I may give in to the wedding list, but got a few months to ponder Smile

I love wedding lists! It means you deffinately get them something they want and they don't end up with 3 of the same thing! I loved mine when I got married!

Guys are very hard to design for! Would be interested to hear peoples ideas.

Does he wear ties (even just occassionally) - if so perhaps a tie pin.

How about matching pendants on a silver chain?

A ring? - probably not the best idea for a wedding.

Earring?

That's it - run out of ideas now.

Agree with the wedding list thing - but I suppose it gets them what the want/need. At my first wedding I got two sets of scales and enough towels to last a lifetime.

I don't really like wedding gift lists either for the same reasons as you. And I too was thinking of making something instead but it really is a struggle with blokes - thankfully the wedding isn't until the end of this year.

The only thing I can think of is maybe chainmaille bracelets - using bigger jump-rings for his for a chunky masculine look and small jump-rings for hers for a delicate look.

Or perhaps a version of those military-style dog tags I've often seen in men's clothing stores - maybe have the date of the wedding inscribed on them in the style of the serial numbers usually found on them, so its a subtle reference to the wedding day. Then a feminine version could perhaps be made using a slightly different design and a curvier font inscription of the wedding date.

Nice ideas so far...thanks to all! I like the idea of something with the date of the wedding on.
