A date with a difference
Valentine’s day thaws out even the coldest of hearts, Heather Gregory and Jennifer Burgess style up four outfits for romantic occasions
Weekend break
A weekend away can re-kindle the fire in any relationship! This is the perfect time to spoil each other, so for a last minute gift, try out the adorable cuff links by Paula Paton on page 42. Packing for a weekend away can be a challenge when you have limited space in your suitcase, make sure that you take a pair of trusty jeans, an outfit for a formal restaurant (just in case), a comfy sight-seeing outfit and bedroom basics (see lustrous lingerie for tips). For an easy-to-wear, yet sultry, travel look, don natural fabrics with boho details, a comfy pair of boots, keep hair and make-up natural, and let ethnic inspired jewellery and accessories bring the outfit together.

Lustrous lingerie
We all wear lingerie, or should I say most of us do, and there ís always a need for a new matching set or some cute bedtime accessories. Having the right lingerie can make you feel a million dollars and can boost your confidence. Ditch the ugly nude body-huggers; embrace your curves with a flattering bra and knicker set suited to your shape and skin tone. It’s always worth getting measured to get the perfect fit, and lift out of your lingerie!
Jema Hewitt’s steam punk necklace is perfect to complement vintage style lingerie or a fitted basque (see page 4). Lace stockings or knee-high socks add a seductive touch and if you dare, wear with stacked heels.

Theatre trip
This look is one for the dramatic dresser, and what better excuse than a trip to the theatre to embrace your theatrical side. Bold shapes, strong colours and unusual cuts are all welcome, but remember, for the theatre it is best to keep your hemlines on the conservative side of mini!
Look for unusual cuts and contrasting fabrics, and give feminine ruffles an edge by covering up with a masculine blazer. Add to the drama with towering heels and a statement bag. Channel your inner leading lady with stand-out make-up; red lips are a must and long false eyelashes give maximum impact. Simple jet jewellery in graphic shapes enhance the outfit while letting the dress do the talking and for a striking look, keep the neckline and wrists bare and stick to bold earrings and an oversized ring.
Grey double breasted suit jacket £50 Miss Selfridge

Cocktail dress £130 Debenhams
Dinner date
Don’t let the formality of a dinner date curb your creativity. A tropical print dress will brighten up the gloomiest of winter evenings, especially when combined with a cocktail! A classic cut in an elegant, silky fabric will keep a wild print and vibrant colours tame enough for those with classic style.
A bold print requires minimal accessories; muted shades will complement it perfectly and a toned down gold is ideal for adding a little glamour. Stacks of bangles, a pearl necklace or a giant cocktail ring in a bright colour such as turquoise or fuchsia will bring out the colours in your dress. Continue the tropical feel with bare legs, or if it’s just too cold, cheat with flesh toned tights or hold-ups! Stay warm with a classic vintage shrug.
